How did Germans feel about AB being the exclusive beer sponsor for the World Cup?

This question is for native Germans, europeans, or any beer drinker who attended the World Cup in Germany this year. I read that Anheuser Busch was the exclusive alcohol sponsor for the World Cup and they planned to serve only American style Budweiser at all the stadiums. What happened with that and how did you react?
