Question for the ladies....?

Of all the things women judge each other for, I find fashion sense most ridiculous. Fashion in general is seems to be a pretty worthless field to me, fueled by vanity and the need to feel better by making others feel worse (i.e. good fashion/bad fashion). Does following vapid arbitrary trends bring some sort of sense of righteousness? I'm not trying to be a typical jerky guy either as I watch a lot of sports but find them pretty useless as well. Any thoughts?
